You read labels diligently because you know there are many ingredients that you are intolerant to or wish to avoid for health reasons.

You know that additives in the range 620 to 622 represent the MSG family and as you are one of the 40% of people have an MSG intolerance you especially avoid the processed food that contains them.

But every now and again that ?chinese food syndrome? ? which could be more accurately called ?western food syndrome? as MSG is prevalent in so many foods available today ? creeps in and you are left wondering ?what is it this time??

Read the label again. These ingredients always contain MSG: Autolyzed Yeast, Glutamate, Calcium Caseinate, Glutamic Acid, Yeast Extract, Monosodium Glutamate, Monopotassium Glutamate, Textured Protein, Yeast Nutrient, Gelatin, Hydrolyzed Protein, Sodium Caseinate, Yeast Food.

It is wise to be informed and always look beyond the label. In processed food, MSG may be lurking in many disguises ? assume it is there and you will choose wisely.
